The one and only Halloween costume I had time for this year. This customer told me her son wanted to be a purple inkling boy from Splatoon and she couldn’t find a costume available. Her other requests were that it needed to be able to grow with her son as he gets attached to things as well as that it be warm/ can be layered under. So here’s what I came up with. I started with a few basic pieces ( White t-shirt, black long sleeve shirt and black shorts) so that I wasn’t making everything from scratch. For the logo on the t-shirt I added it on with iron on vinyl, and then both shirts were hemmed to length. Slim track pants were made out of fleece backed jersey (with extra hem length that can be let down) to go under the shorts which I added a purple stripe to. To top it all off I made the hair out of some purple fleece in the form of a hat with added on stuffed ponytails and ears. The final detail was painting the design onto some white fabric to make the hair tie. Can’t wait to see how it all looks put together for Halloween night! |

It was a pleasure to make another raven mascot for a Waterloo Raven’s hockey team. I made one for another team 3 years ago and I think it might have been one of my favorite non clothing makes since then. They are SEW fun to make! I documented the creation process in my stories and saved it in my highlights if you missed them you can still check it out. I can’t wait to hear what the girls think about their mascot and hopefully it brings their team good luck!
The base of the raven and the undersides of the legs, tail and wings are lined with clear vinyl to protect it from getting wet or stuck to the ice. The girls can skate around and push the raven around on the ice during warm up and it can sit on the bench with them during the game to cheer them on. The wings are fun to move around to add animation like covering the eyes when the score of the game is close and the timers down to the last few minutes. The raven sits 20” tall and is so soft and hugable!
