Whether your kiddo grows to fast and legs are too long for footed pjs or, like in this case, they just don’t like the feeling of them, this is a great solution to footed pjs. Also by creating slippers there’s no waste!
I was asked if I could remove the feet from some kids PJs and replace them with cuffs instead. No problem! When I started chopping of the adorable pj feet I got an idea , if I’m adding a cuff to the legs of the pjs, why not add a cuff to the foot part as well and make some cute matching slippers.

So so so happy with how this project turned out! A customer brought me 4 dresses that her mother had made her for special events in her life; graduation, bridesmaid dresses for her wedding and others.
Her mom has since past away for many years now but she’s held onto these special dresses. Instead of having them hang in the back of the closet to hold onto the memories she thought why not get them turned into dresses for her grand daughters to wear and share the memories. Here’s the fun part, she asked if I could make the new dresses look exactly like the old dresses with all the same details. I thought that was a fantastic idea and would be such a fun creative project to work on! Here are the before and after photos of the 4 dresses (front and back). The new dresses are made in size 3T & 4T. Now she can pass the memories of her mother down to her grandchildren who never had a chance to meet their great grandmother. These dresses were hand made by my customers mother years and years ago. When creating the new dresses I didn’t just want to use the dresses for their fabric, I wanted to include some of her mothers beautiful handy work into the new dresses as well. So I was able to use all of the original hems including the beautiful lace finishes. As well in some dresses I included some original seaming, finishing and belts. This makes the dresses that much more special! One of my favourite things I made for the holidays was this unicorn cape for a little girly who loves dressing up. It was something fun and new to make! I love how it turned out! 💕
The pattern is a @rebeccajpage pattern. Sewing the yarn mane was actually very simple and done by sandwiching all the yarn between 2 lengths of ribbon. I had fun mixing and matching different sparkly fabrics from my stash. Sewn with love with lots of hours of play time in its future!
It was a pleasure to make another raven mascot for a Waterloo Raven’s hockey team. I made one for another team 3 years ago and I think it might have been one of my favorite non clothing makes since then. They are SEW fun to make! I documented the creation process in my stories and saved it in my highlights if you missed them you can still check it out. I can’t wait to hear what the girls think about their mascot and hopefully it brings their team good luck!
The base of the raven and the undersides of the legs, tail and wings are lined with clear vinyl to protect it from getting wet or stuck to the ice. The girls can skate around and push the raven around on the ice during warm up and it can sit on the bench with them during the game to cheer them on. The wings are fun to move around to add animation like covering the eyes when the score of the game is close and the timers down to the last few minutes. The raven sits 20” tall and is so soft and hugable! Emergency surgery on Mr. Monkey! He had a rip in his leg and was loosing stuffing fast! I stuffed and stitched him up and now he’s as good as new. It was so heart warming seeing the look on the little boys face when he saw his monkey all fixed up.
I'm always up for a challenge when it comes to creating. I've never made a mascot before but when a customer asked if I could make one for her grand daughters hockey team I was excited to test it out. The local girls hockey teams in Waterloo are the Waterloo Ravens and teams range from all different ages and skil levels.
Requirements for this mascot were: 1) it needed to be large enough that it could sit on the ice and the girls could skate around it and it could be seen from the stands, 2) it needs to stand up on its own with out falling over, 3) when it sits on the ice we don't want it to stick to the ice or get wet. I started with drafting the pattern for it, making sure it would be big enough. I've made stuffed animals before so I knew what the flat patterns needed to look like to create a 3D object. Then I cut out the fleece fabric, batting for the wings and tail and vinyl. I used clear vinyl on top of the base and underside of the legs and tail, this way you can also see the colour and texture of the fabric underneath it and it won't get stuck to the ice or get wet. The beak, wings, legs and tail all needed to be made first so I could attach them securely to the body. Once everything was attached I sewed up the body and attached the base leaving a hole to flip it right side out and to stuff it. I stuffed the bird firmly with poly fill and before closing up the hole I added a bag of dried beans to give him some weight. This will keep him from tipping over as well as his tail and wings will balence him. The last step was to add some button eyes and he was done! He turned out absolutely amazing!! I almost didn't want to give him up because he was so perfect! The Raven was a big hit with the team and the girls were so excited to have him. Sitting at 20" tall this guy will be sitting in the middle of the ice while the girls warm up and on the side lines during the game cheering them on. Hopefully he brings them good Luck for the season! This creation was a request from a mother who's child loved the show Rob the Robot. Unfortunately at the time it wasn't a popular enough show that they were creating merchandise of the characters. This mother really wanted to give a stuffed toy of the character as a Christmas gift so she came to me in hopes I could make it. She was so thankful when I said I could make this for her! It turned out great!
Made out of super soft fleece fabric and stuffed with batting this robot is perfect for kids to play with. I added lots of stitching details to mimic the details that the character has to make it look alike. I really enjoyed making this stuffed toy from scratch! |
