3 denim memory quilts. Made with the jeans of a customers loved one who passed away. These quilts make a special keepsake and provide a delightful memory. With the quilt tops being made of all denim and backed with fleece with a layer of batting in between these quilts feel like a warm hug when you’re warped up in them.
These baby blankets may look simple but the significance behind them is what is special. The lace that borders these blankets is from the wedding dress of the grandmother, she passed away before ever getting to meet her grandchildren. These 3 incredibly soft baby blankets were made as a surprise gift for her children by a dear friend. I was told these blankets brought tears to their eyes and will be cherished forever. Whenever the baby's are wrapped in these blankets it's like a warm hug from grandma.
This quilted duvet cover was a special request from a mom who's daughter was going away to university this year. She's been saving her daughters sports jerseys, camp and volunteer shirts and shirts from vacations for years. Now that her daughter is leaving home she wanted something special to send with her that would remind her of all the places she's been and all the things she's done. It turned out great and I think this is a great send off gift!
In 2014 I made 2 t-shirt memory quilts out of kids clothes for a customer, she absolutely loved them but the problem was she had 3 girls and only had 2 quilts made! About a year later after collecting a huge bag of clothes her kids had grown out of, she contacted me again wanting a 3rd one made, this time to fit a double bed. Very happy again how this one turned out, all 3 of her daughters now have a memory quilt of clothes they used to wear when they were young.
Here I made a duvet cover and matching pillow covers. This whole set is removable and can easily be washed. After this customer saw the rock band t-shirt quilt I had made, she knew she needed to have these made with her children's clothes that they have out grown. She has 3 little girls so she had lots of clothes they had all worn and now out grown. She brought me a huge bag full of old shirts and I cut them up into quilt patches, we had enough patches to make 2 single bed quilts. I added some sashing between the rows to make the quilt long enough to fit a single bed which added a design to the quilt. The quilts are backed with a floral cotton and have a thick layer of batting between the front and back to make them soft and warm. This lap size quilt is made from old worn out jeans. Everyone has old jeans in the back of their closet that either don't fit any more or are worn out with holes in the knees. Instead of throwing them out why not collect them together and have a quilt made out of them. Denim makes a warm heavy quilt. On this one I included the back pockets of the jeans and lined the back with a plaid flannel to make it extra warm. Start collecting your old jeans today to get your own denim quilt made. |
